Community Involvement
Mahaska Health Partnership (MHP) is proud to support the community we serve. Read below to find out some of the projects we are involved in.
Habitat for Humanity
Mahaska Health Partnership employees donate their time annually to help build a home for a local deserving family. MHP Is proud to assist with such a worthwhile project that not only provides a lovely home for a wonderful family but also enriches the landscape of our community.
Oskaloosa Chamber and Development Group
We recognize the importance of the efforts of the OACDG for the quality of life and betterment of Oskaloosa and Mahaska County as a whole. This is why we support many Chamber initiatives including the Lighted Christmas Parade, Up and Coming Artists show, Friday After Five in addition to volunteering for other events and committees.
Relay For Life
Relay For Life is a community event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. MHP has been a proud sponsor of the Mahaska County Relay For Life since 2001. In addition to sponsoring the event, several fundraising activities take place throughout the year to help raise money for Relay For Life. To find out more about the American Cancer Society visit www.cancer.org.
Scholarships
We recognize how important it is to encourage others to enter the health care field. Each year MHP provides scholarships to three local college-bound students planning to major in a health care field.
School Sports
Physicals
Since 2002 our employees have volunteered their time to provide school sports physicals each fall. All of the proceeds from the $20 physicals are donated back to the student's school.
Events
Members of our team also attend several local football and basketball games to help in times of a student injury. During times of continual budget cuts, we recognize every little bit we can give back to the schools helps them fulfill their missions.
United Way
United Way is a nonprofit agency that focuses on raising funds for many projects and organizations in the Mahaska County area. In addition to our annual fund raising drive with our employees, MHP is proud to participate in the annual United Way Day of Caring as well as be a United Way Agency through our Mahaska Hospice Transition Care program. For more information about other ways United Way is helping in Mahaska County, visit www.unitedwaymahaska.org.
These are just a sampling of what MHP does in the community. We continually seek out new activities we can be involved in and ways we can help the people we serve.
