Emergency Services Center
The Mahaska Hospital Emergency Services Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is located at 1229 C Avenue East, Oskaloosa. The emergency entrance is located on the east side of the hospital.
Mahaska Hospital is a designated trauma level three facility. Our experienced, full-time, emergency physicians are employed by Mahaska Health Partnership. In addition, the emergency room nurses are specially trained for emergency care.
When the need for emergency medical care goes beyond Mahaska Hospital's trauma level, helicopters from hospitals in Des Moines and Iowa City are available to assure the level of care needed is continued.

Mahaska Hospital's emergency services team emphasizes continuity of care. Our paramedic level ambulance service does more than take care of the patient before arrival to the hospital, they follow through on the care of the patient until the end of their visit at Mahaska Hospital.
Together, your team of emergency physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and nurses assure exceptional emergency care for Mahaska and surrounding communities.
The Emergency Services Center was renovated in 2002 and features the following:
- Three private patient exam rooms
- Two medical/procedure rooms for patients requiring a longer visit. These rooms are larger and include a private bedroom
- Two trauma/cardiac rooms both preset with monitors at the central station, emergency equipment, larger work space and break away doors for additional work space
- One lock down room equip with a video monitor
- Private ER waiting room and entrance
- Triage and admission area for a more private setting to obtain information from the patient
- Decontamination area with outside access
- Large ambulance garage with drive through area for outside ambulance units in addition to patient and family loading
- Larger, more private comfort area for privacy and planning by families with patients during a crisis
