Mahaska Hospital
In 1889 the Oskaloosa Women's Club started fundraising for a hospital. Their initial
efforts raised $1.60. By 1906 a campaign for a hospital was successful with $5,000 accumulated by the Women's Club, and $10,000 collected by additional solicitors. The site for the hospital was purchased and construction began. In 1907 the Oskaloosa Hospital was open for patient care.
